Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

from Southern Living 1998

What is not to like about the combination of warm chocolate, toasty pecans and tasty bourbon. This is my all time favorite pie!

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

  • 1 recipe for a 9" pie crust (see my Fanny Farmer Pie Crust Blog Post)

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup light corn syrup, (Kayro)

  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar

  • 3 Tbsp bourbon

  • 1 Tbsp all purpose flour

  • 1 Tbsp pure vanilla extract

  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans, and a handful of pecan halve to place on top.

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  1. Place the oven rack on the lowest position and preheat the oven to 350.

  2. Fit the pie crust into a 9" pie plate, fold edges under and crimp.

  3. Whisk together egg and next 7 ingredients until mixture is smooth.

  4. Stir in pecans and chocolate chips.

  5. Pour into the piecrust.

  6. Use the handful of pecan halves to place a nice design of pecans on top.

  7. Bake on the lowest oven rack at 350 for 1 hour or until set.

Serve with Vanilla Ice Cream.
